Error Analysis of a Dual-parametric Bi-quadratic FEM in Cavitation Computation in Elasticity

چکیده
The orientation-preservation conditions and approximation errors of a dual-parametric bi-quadratic finite element method for the computation of both radially-symmetric and general nonsymmetric cavity solutions in nonlinear elasticity are analyzed. The analytical results allow us to establish, based on an error equi-distribution principle, an optimal meshing strategy for the method in cavitation computation. Numerical results are in good agreement with the analytical results.

A dual-parametric finite element method for cavitation in nonlinear elasticity
A dual-parametric finite element method is introduced in this paper for the computation of singular minimizers in the two dimensional cavitation problem in nonlinear elasticity. The method overcomes the difficulties, such as the mesh entanglement and material interpenetration, generally encountered in the finite element approximation of problems with extremely large expansionary deformation. Nu...
متن کاملEvaluating the Effects of Dual Frequency Sonication Parameters on Acoustic Cavitation by Chemical Dosimeter Using Iodide
Background and Aims: Production of acoustic cavitation by sonication has been recently recommended as a targeted treatment. The experimental results from studies indicate that the activity of cavitation generated by bi- or multi-frequency ultrasound irradiation is higher than that caused by single frequency irradiation. In this study, effects dual (1 MHz and 40 kHz) and single frequency soni...
متن کاملEfficient Nonlinear Finite Element Modeling of Nonrigid Objects via Optimization of Mesh Models
In this paper we propose a new general framework for the application of the nonlinear finite element method (FEM) to nonrigid motion analysis. We construct the models by integrating image data and prior knowledge, using well-established techniques from computer vision, structural mechanics, and computer-aided design (CAD). These techniques guide the process of optimization of mesh models. Linea...
متن کاملDetermination of right/left return to scale in two-stage processes based on dual simplex
As a non-parametric method of relative efficient measurement of a group of decision-making units (〖DMU〗_s), Data Envelopment Analysis (DEA) is one of the most important tools in efficiency computation. One of the main concerns dealt with in DEA is dealing with return to scale in two-stage processes in which, produced outputs of the first stage inputs are used as inputs for the second stage. The...
متن کاملAdaptive hp-FEM for the Contact Problem with Tresca Friction in Linear Elasticity: The Primal-dual Formulation and a Posteriori Error Estimation
We present an a priori analysis of the hp-version of the finite element method for the primal-dual formulation of frictional contact in linear elasticity. We employ a novel hp-mortar projection operator, which is uniformly stable in the mesh width and grows slowly in the polynomial degree. We derive an hp-FEM residual error indicator, develop an hp-adaptive strategy that is based on testing for...
